Would a Battery Kill Switch have preventred this?

Not a big Hot Rod fan, but its a shame to see someone's pride and joy burnt out due to a battery fire under the back seat. Would a battery kill switch have prevented this?

I know of several fires in vintage cars that did significant damage in the few seconds from when smoke or a fire was noticed, till the seats and floor were removed to kill the battery.

That's why the Red Chev has a kill switch right under my legs, reachable in about 2 seconds
