Building up a Spare Engine (1927) for the Red Chev - Part 3

A good deal of progress was made today. The block was flushed out with the high pressure Karcher after being sealed up and filled with Rust Buster for 48 hours.

Pretty clean looking innards for a 86 year old engine.

The surface of the block was cleaned up, and the old head bolts that always stretch were replaced with studs, which makes the fitting of the head so much simpler.

You may notice the finer thread at the top of the bolt which gives more precise torquing of the head, and are the same as what has been on the Red Chev for over 12 months with no problems.

Tomorrow on goes the head, and we find out if this engine has improved compression.

Stay tuned.
